Common questions

Things people ask

What does CrawlRanker actually do?
Two scores from one URL. The SEO audit grades your page against the same checks an experienced reviewer would run — title tags, headings, mobile readiness, schema, broken links, and image alt text. The AI-automation score reads how much of the page looks machine-generated across content, structure, imagery, and tone, and ships with a confidence percentage on every finding.
Is my scan public?
Yes. Submitting a URL creates a public report at crawlranker.com/.../s/[id] that anyone with the link can view, and it appears in our sitemap. This is the core mechanic — public reports are how the methodology gets challenged and how good scans build trust. If you do not want a particular scan published, do not submit it. Removal requests work — see the Terms page.
Do I need an account?
No. The free scanner does not require sign-up, payment information, or any personal details. You paste a URL, you get a result. Accounts arrive in a later release for users who want a private scan history; the free public scan stays free.
How long does a scan take?
First result in under 30 seconds for most sites. The scan fetches the page once, parses it server-side, runs the SEO rubric, and asks Claude to read the same content for the AI-automation score. Slow or large sites take longer; sites blocking our crawler return a clear error rather than a guess.
How accurate is the AI-automation score?
Accurate enough to be useful, honest enough to tell you when it is not. Every score includes a confidence percentage. Pages with mixed signals deliberately produce lower confidence and a 'Mixed signals' verdict rather than a forced call. When confidence drops below 0.6 we automatically re-run the analysis on a stronger model. The full methodology is published — see the link in the navigation.
Is this a plagiarism detector?
No. The score is a fingerprint of the page itself. It does not compare against any other page or corpus, and it does not produce a 'copied from' output. A page can be entirely original and still score high on AI-automation if a person used a model to draft the prose. The score reads automation, not originality and not quality.
